Dear Luke,
Today I want to talk to you about courage. Courage is not the absence of fear—it’s choosing to do what is right, even when you feel afraid. Everyone feels fear sometimes, but God gives us the strength to take brave steps, trust Him, and do what is good.
✨ BIG IDEA: Courage means doing what’s right even when you feel afraid, because God gives you the strength to be brave. ✨
When I was little, I was sometimes afraid to do things on my own. I remember being nervous to go to the store for my mom, just a couple of blocks away. Every time I overcame my fear, ran there, and ran back as fast as I could, I felt proud and stronger inside. Those small acts taught me that courage grows one step at a time.
The Bible is full of stories of courage. One of my favorites is David facing Goliath. David was young, small, and inexperienced in battle, but he trusted God and stepped forward with courage. Because he relied on God, he was able to accomplish something that seemed impossible. Courage is not about being fearless—it’s about trusting God and taking action even when you are afraid.
Luke, as you grow, you will face challenges and fears too. Courage can be simple: standing up for someone who is treated unfairly, trying something new even if it feels risky, or admitting a mistake honestly. Every act of bravery, no matter how small, shapes your character and shows God’s strength in you.
My prayer for you this week:
Lord, fill Luke with courage. Help him trust You when he feels afraid, take brave steps in the right direction, and show boldness in doing what is good and true. Amen.
I love you, Luke, and I’m proud to be your godfather.
Blessings,
Juan
