Letters to Luke: Integrity

Dear Luke,

This week, I want to talk to you about integrity. Integrity means being honest, trustworthy, and consistent in your words and actions—even when no one is watching. It’s choosing to do what is right simply because it is right, not because someone is looking or might reward you.

BIG IDEA: Integrity means choosing to do what is right—being honest and trustworthy—even when no one is watching. ✨

When I was young and playing sports, I always followed the rules. Sometimes that meant admitting when I stepped out of bounds or when I was the last one to touch the ball. As an adult, I make it a point to keep my word, be honest even when doing so comes at a cost, and do what is right even when no one is looking. Choosing integrity has shaped my character and brought a sense of peace that comes from doing what’s right.

Integrity is important because it builds trust, strengthens relationships, and honors God. The Bible reminds us in Proverbs 10:9: “Whoever walks in integrity walks securely, but whoever takes crooked paths will be found out.” When you live with integrity, people can rely on you, and you can live with a clear conscience.

Luke, here are some steps to help you start practicing integrity:

1. Tell the truth, even when it’s uncomfortable.

2. Keep your promises, no matter how small.

3. Make fair decisions, like sharing, taking turns, or admitting when something is your fault.

4. Do the right thing even when it’s hard and no one is watching.

My prayer for you today:

Lord, guide Luke to live with integrity. Help him always choose honesty, act with fairness, and honor You and others in everything he does. Amen.

I love you, Luke, and I’m proud to be your godfather.

Blessings,

Uncle Juan
