Dear Luke,
I want to talk to you about kindness. Kindness is one of the most powerful ways we can show love to others and reflect God’s heart. Even small acts of kindness can brighten someone’s day and leave a lasting impact.
✨ BIG IDEA: Kindness shows God’s love and can make a big difference in someone’s life—even through small actions. ✨
When I was in elementary school, I didn’t speak English, and I didn’t have any friends at first. Stephen, a boy in my class, would sit with me at lunch and keep me company. He became my first and best friend. That simple act of kindness made me feel seen, accepted, and cared for. It’s a memory I will never forget.
Kindness is more than being polite. It’s choosing to care about others, to help them when you can, and to treat them with love and respect—even when it’s not convenient or easy.
One of the most beautiful examples of kindness in the Bible is King David reaching out to Mephibosheth, the son of his dear friend Jonathan. Even though Mephibosheth was crippled and might have been forgotten, David welcomed him into his own home, gave him a place at the king’s table, and showed him honor and care. That act of kindness changed Mephibosheth’s life and showed how love and mercy can lift someone up.
The Bible also tells us in Ephesians 4:32, “Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you.” When you show kindness, you reflect God’s heart and make the world a brighter place.
Luke, as you grow, look for ways to be kind every day.
Hold the door for someone.
Speak encouraging words.
Help someone quietly.
Include someone who feels left out.
Be kind to others whether they deserve it or not.
Even small actions can make a big difference. Kindness is a choice, and every time you choose it, you make the world a little better.
My prayer for you this week:
Lord, help Luke grow in kindness. Let his words be gentle, his actions loving, and his heart full of compassion. Teach him to reflect Your love in every part of his life. Amen.
I love you, Luke, and I’m so proud to be your godfather.
With love,
Juan
